Improvement of polymer properties for powder bed fusion by combining in situ PECVD nanoparticle synthesis and dry coating

Polypropylene (PP) powders are coated with silica nanoparticles in a fluidized bed to improve the flow behavior of and processability powder fusion. The produced situ via dusty plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) an atmospheric-pressure Ar/O2 plasma jet fixed at distributor plate bed. Hexamethyldisiloxane is used as precursor nanoparticles. influence oxygen concentration gas number treatment cycles on composition nanoparticles, amount deposited, properties PP investigated. formed particles determined by X-ray photon spectroscopy infrared spectroscopy. results reveal that SiOxCy, is, portion organic residues introduced can be controlled changing gas. mass deposited polymer powder's surface, inductively coupled optical emission spectroscopy, shows linear dependence A considerable improvement observed after PECVD treatment.
